Evaluate Your Life and avoid Headageddon

Updated: Oct 19, 2022

According to Socrates,

“an unexamined life is not worth living “ 🤔

Me thinks that might be a tad too dramatic however we really should stop every now and then and take stock.

#EvaluateYourLifeDay seems a most appropriate time to do that.

This is not about comparing and seeing where you fall short compared to others. It is about having an honest look at where you are.

Is this where you want to be?

The chances are it is not where you thought you would be 30 years ago.

Are you happy here ⁉

Do you need to adjust or change direction ⁉

Often one of the most important questions we can ask ourselves is “why”.

Why are we in this job/relationship/location? Is it for :

❓ The money

❓ The people

❓ The challenges and growth it brings

❓ Or is it for the prestige we think it brings. Are we doing it purely to look good to others.

❓ Are we studying that PHD just for vanity’s sake? To put it on our résumé. Or do we need it to take us where we want to go.

When we come to our final days, I doubt we will be thinking about how cool other people thought we were.👏🏻🎬

If we have lived with passion and followed our hearts ❤rather than expectations of others or trends, we will probably be consumed by a sense of fulfilment.

And how rich and wonderful is that

I think the best way to re-evaluate is to just be.

Don’t think too hard.

Go out into nature (sans digital devices) and just breathe.

For it is in the quiet moments that the answers come.

Often while we are concentrating on something like calligraphy or pottery the answer to a long held problem just comes to us.

Perhaps go on a weekend retreat. 🧘🏻‍♀️

Social media 🤳🏻 can often portray false #goals as being the ideal, the dream. This results in many pursuing dreams they think they must, due to peer or societal pressure. 😞

But is that what will really make us happy.

At the end of the day, I want to be the best I can be.

To do the best I can with what I have and to keep improving on a daily basis.

And luckily I have learned due to circumstance, that it is never too late to change direction and become whatever you want to be.
